Our top 3 Wedding Priorities

While I was planning our wedding I would binge read every article on how to do it in the most affordable and efficient way. I read so many blogs posts and gained SO much awesome inspiration I thought I would post my strategies too….just in case there’s someone out there searching for tips, tricks and ideas like I was. So YOU’RE WELCOME! And thanks for reading haha

Where to begin to describe how we pulled off the best party ever? Like our wedding reception was the greatest party I’ve ever been to/hosted. Where do I begin???

How about with logistics:
I planned out almost every little detail of our wedding during our three month engagement. I used my sister's Google Doc for keeping track of quantities, numbers, addresses, money, ideas, website links and to do lists. I was only working full time and NOT going to school so I had some time to commit to planning the wedding. (shout out to everyone who plans their wedding during school/finals—AMAZE!!!! HOW????)

I viewed our wedding as the biggest party that I would ever host. I’ve planned a lot of parties in my life, I love to gather people and eat food and dance! So this party wasn’t anything new—it would just be the biggest and bestest party of our lives….no pressure.

So to break things down Mike and I narrowed down our top three priorities for our wedding bash: documenting, good food, and vibe.

Photos and videos: Documentation of our special day was extremely important to me so we booked the best—Brooke Stapleton & Dane Christensen. Their work talks for themselves.

Then the food: Mike and I love food. We love GOOD food. Well, everyone loves GOOD FOOD so we made that a priority. My AMAZING PHENOMENAL WONDERFUL GENEROUS family were the masterminds behind food and executed an amazing buffet for our reception. My Mother and aunts planned out quantities, bought the food and enlisted my younger cousins to work too. They grilled paninis, tossed salad, cut and arranged fruit all for the 200+ guests we hosted. I’m so grateful to them and excited to get to help out in all the cousin weddings to come!

Party vibe: Mike and I fit under the “easy-going” category and wanted our reception party to represent that. We imagined our reception as a relaxed, romantic and fun summer’s party—and that’s exactly what it was!! The Garden Park ward is an event setting that could be described as ‘NeverLand’ meets ‘Mid-summers night dream’. The garden was so green and perfectly warm on our reception night. It even stayed light until past 9:30!  I asked my uncle to DJ for us which was the best decision ever. Everyone kept telling me "I LOVE THIS SONG WHO IS YOUR DJ CAN I HIRE HIM????"

With those three priorities Mike and I, with the help of many, brought our vision to life. The food made everyone happy, the many chairs made everyone comfortable, and the jammin’ music made everyone want to dance!
