discussing romantic feelings for past lovers

I was chatting with a friend yesterday about feelings we have for old boyfriends and it got me thinking about what complex things our hearts are. I don't have any romantic feelings for my old boyfriends because all my feelings are being poured into loving Mike. But before I loved Mike I went through a major turning point concerning old feelings for past lovers.

Mike and I met on June 20th, 2014. We spent five consecutive every day together after that. On the sixth day I was asked by an old boyfriend to meet up and talk about how things ended between us. I agreed and all of my past feelings for him rushed back into my heart and head, making me very confused and wary. I knew this past relationship was good(not great) and we could maybe get things back to where they were(comfort zone). This past relationship had been a big one and there were lots of real feelings involved. I had no idea if things would progress with Mike because I had just met him, he was leaving to live in California and I was staying in Utah. It seemed like the logical choice to get back together and try to work things out.

But.....

Long story short I knew that I was emotionally done with the past relationship before we even met up. I felt bad the entire time because I could've been hanging out with Mike the whole time. That was a huge indicator of who I wanted to spend my time with. Because of how torn I felt being away from Mike, I knew that he was more than a crush or summer fling. It was good to have closure with this past boyfriend but I just couldn't open my heart up to him again because it was already hooked on Mike.

In the end, I closed the door on that past relationship for good and was able to excitedly open the new door that led me to falling in love with Mike. The key thing was I had no regrets. I knew what I wanted and that was Mike, whether or not we fell in love or even dated or even kissed (yeah we hadn't even kissed yet...we really just knew the moment we saw each other) He was the one I wanted to be with and I'm so glad we actually did get to kiss, date and fall in love.

awkward and awesome

Awkward:

  • playing in the water spigot by my apartment by myself cause it is just too hot outside. thanks everyone for walking out of your apartments at that specific time just to see me throwing water on my head in my swimsuit..all..alone...

  • my hair. its wild and crazy. but sometimes it looks okay.

also about my hair; my gorgeous earrings always
find a way to get caught in my hair as I'm trying to be cool
and swoop my hair into a ponytail in one fluid motion.

  • going with Carter to a Mechanical Engineering Senior Showcase and asking questions about cool inventions they've made. not awkward huh? well it gets pretty awkward when the genius senior who invented his own rocket fuel asks you if you're in Mech Eng and you just stand there next to Carter and say "uhh nope. actually I'm Art Education." and then you feel like you need to back yourself up so you just keep rambling stuff like, "I'm just really into this cool inventions and smart stuff! It's like Myth Busters in real life! haaha ..ha....ok..um.yeah...."

Awesome:
  • rediscovering favorite songs (SUPERBASS)

  • I totally aced my Religion final, YEAH BABY!

  • I have the best roomates in the world.ever.love.them.

  • this wristband some volunteer threw in my face today. it says, "Unlplug and be a bud!"

  • Carter thought bud was a potato (its actually spud) so that made me laugh :)

sun, sand and s'mores

Friday evening at sunset, 20 friends piled into trucks and drove off to the dunes.
We played frisbee, football, took awesome sunset photos, flipped and jumped off the edge of the dunes, and rolled around and got super sandy.

We had a bonfire and huddled around it with s'mores, ghost stories and s'moreos (oreos with marshmallows in between)

It was such a perfect night for the dunes. We had such a blast!

Here is Carter and I doing ariels off the edge of the dunes!

It was such a perfect party at the dunes!

California Missions Trip

California Missions Trip

April 2nd through April 7th 2012

Sunday We drove from SLC to Las Vegas after General Conference!

MondayWe made the long Drive from Las Vegas to San Diego.  We made a Visit to the Mormon Battalion Visitors Center and it was fun to find ancestors who share our name!
We walked down the street to Fiesta de Reyes, an outside Mexican restaurant complete with shops surrounding the tables. Carter and I walked around and when I saw the flamenco dancers I felt like I was back in Mexico City!! I impressed everyone and ordered in spanish haha I can read it so well and my accent is great!

Tuesday San Diego.  Visit Mission San Diego de Alcala and museums in Balboa Park.
Today was the craziest most busy day! We went to the Mission San Diego de Alcala and a children’s science museum.

After lunch at the famous Coronado island  we went to Balboa Park right on the beach and had a blast there! We went on this sky climb ropes course and rock climbing, then laser tag and a laser maze just like in Mission Impossible! It was so fun to dodge the lasers and crawl through it like a spy.

Wednesday – Travel north to Ventura, driving by Mission San Luis Rey and visiting San Juan Capistrano.  We went and saw the movie Mirror Mirror and it was actually pretty funny, well written with clever jokes.

Thursday – Travel north to Paso Robles, visiting missions La Purisima and San Luis Obispo along the way.  Our tour guide for La Purisima let us go into all the roped off areas and even let us ring the bells that haven’t been used in ages!

Friday – Travel north to San Francisco stopping at missions San Carlos Borromco and San Juan Bautista along the way.  We went to Pier 39 and ate at Bubba Gumps right on the water front! We saw Alcatraz in the distance and watched the sun set by the Californian Seals. It was wonderful!

Saturday – Return home after visiting mission San Francisco de Asis and the final mission in Sonoma . The drive home was fun cause we were all so hyper to get out of the car! Haha it was an amazing trip and I’m so lucky to be able to come along and learn so much about the California Missions!

Hawaiian Luau

What do you do when there's snow outside and you're freezing to death?
Throw a Luau, that's what!
Last Saturday I threw a Luau party!! It was the BEST PARTY EVER!
As people arrived in their floral shirts and khaki shorts, Haley gave them a Lei and googled their Hawaiian name and gave them their new nametag. I had made about 50 fruit skewers of pinapples, grapes and strawberries and everyone ate them so fast! Thanks Mom and Grandma for all these amazing party ideas! I love you guys J

I made grass skirts for everyone and we all looked so hawaiian, it was awesome!!

We played Twister, Limbo, Psychiatrist, Slaps, and Pin the Coconut on the Palm Tree!

Then during the Talent show part of the party, Omar, Haley and I were the opening act and sang “Flightless Bird”. Haha we sounded pretty good…haha Then Jared and Carter performed an Island song they had written, it was so beautiful!!

Sammy's anyone?

Sammy's is a local burger joint here in Rexburg that everyone who's anyone hangs out at...not really. It's a little along the lines of a 'hipster hangout' but they have fantastic burgers, amazing french fries, and absolutely delicious Pie Shakes that are pretty much heaven in a cup.

They also have local and well-known bands come and perform on their improvised stage. We went to one of these 'mini concerts' and HAD THE BEST TIME EVER! We rocked out in the very front row!

We Shot the Moon gave an awesome performance! We were lucky enough to grab the band members for a quick photo. It was such an epic concert, meet and greet and we had the best time singing at the top of our lungs in the car ride home.

Mustache Mondays are also a favorite.

Shelby, Haley and I sporting our staches. We are just so lovely with facial hair, aren't we?
I am just soooooo excited for Spring Semester with them?
Carter didn't even need a fake mustache--his scruff was sufficient
3 Simple Steps to having a successful Mustache Monday:

1) Search couch for 2 precious quarters to purchase legit looking mustache from vending machine at grocery store
2) walk proudly into Sammy's on any Monday of choice with facial hair attached to upper lip
3) Order yummy Grilled Cheese sandwich for only 80 cents!

I admit that I do have an aversion to facial hair, but if it gets me Grilled Cheese sandwiches for less than a dollar, I am ALL FOR it!

After FHE on monday nights we pile into Carter's car and speed over to Sammy's for some straight up deloishous Grilled Cheese goodness. It really is the only way to start the week.
Chelsea Snow, oh I've missed her so much! She and I snuggled in Carter's cozy trunk with out magnificent mustaches. We would definitely date us.
Overall, it was another epic adventure at Sammy's
 :)
