Our Yosemite adventure

Yosemite was unlike anything I've ever seen before. I mean like a lot of the canyons and trees reminded me of Provo canyon and places in Salt Lake City but still the granite cliffs left me without words.

Doesn't that look like Jurassic park???

After our 4 hour drive from San Jose to Yosemite we drove into camp around 11:30pm and slept in the line of people hoping to get a spot in the camp. The next morning  at 7AM the slots were given out and we barely got the last spot number HALELUJIAH!

We set up camp and then left to hike to vernal falls. We got to the falls and sat on a rock right in front of the spray of water. It was relaxing and sparkly. I did an abstract of the wall and laughed because it really did turn out abstract

Hot dogs or legs forever.

We hiked back down and I saw this perfect photo opp. Like look how gorgeous!!! I told Mike that I didn't need to take any more photos the whole weekend because that photo was pretty enough. He said ok I'll hold you to it. But of course I took more hahahaha

He is so cutie.

We explored around the Yosemite village, ate dinner at one of the shops, played spit and rummy before crawling into our comfy tent to sleep at like 8 pm.

The best thing we did was drive up to tunnel view and take in the sights. It was such an amazing view I felt like my brain couldn't fathom it. Like it just didn't process in my mind what my eyes were seeing. You could see each of the major granite cliffs including half dome in the way back.

Wow wow wow like wow that view!!!!! I loved doing this trip to Yosemite so spontaneously with Mike. It was short, sweet and I'll never forget it.

Stencil Success

This week's craft: DIY Stenciling!

The super cute Alexa Zurcher at He&I made a simple step by step blog post on DIY Stencil Graphic Tee's and Sweaters.
She inspired me to make these, seriously they are SO simple and cheap too!
love it.
I'm much too lazy to write out the instructions (even though there's only like 4 steps) so Here's her blog post!

Seriously all you need is
-Freezer Paper
-A tshirt or sweatshirt
-scissors
-pencil
-fabric paint!
-Iron!

My life's mission

My entire life I've harbored a passion for art. As a two year old, the first words out of my mouth daily were, “Where’s my pencil?”  My parents supported my need to draw by supplying me with sketchbooks, pens, and inspiration. I began art classes very young and my work was proudly displayed in our home. I love all aspects of art whether it be drawing, creating, sculpting or painting. My role models are not Hollywood celebrities, but artists like Picasso, Leonardo and Mondrian. Everything in my world revolved around art.

Creating pictures and making people smile is what brings me happiness. I am pursuing a career in Art Education where I can help children develop their talents and express their creativity through art.  I have a passion for learning and a love for art. I love working with children of all ages and backgrounds. My life’s mission is to help children realize their artistic potential and inspire them to create what no one else has ever created.

I have had specific experiences in my life that have led me to this decision to be an Art teacher. It is so rewarding to help children recognize their talent and see their excitement at their creations.

beginning Sophomore Year of college

Time doesn't just fly by, IT SPEEDS!
It has been so long since I've blogged that I honestly forgot that I had a blog.
That's pretty bad...

So here I am at college once again, beginning a new semester as a sophomore. Life is so good because I'm done with my general eds and finally diving deep into my major! (Art Education) It is amazing and I love it.

My roommates are fantastic and so beautiful! Shelby's cousin Taylor and her friend Tess moved in with us and we've instantly bonded! Our new roommates Brittney and Kate are so sweet and loving. We are so excited for this semester and the new adventure we're embarking on.

awkward and awesome

Awkward:

  • playing in the water spigot by my apartment by myself cause it is just too hot outside. thanks everyone for walking out of your apartments at that specific time just to see me throwing water on my head in my swimsuit..all..alone...

  • my hair. its wild and crazy. but sometimes it looks okay.

also about my hair; my gorgeous earrings always
find a way to get caught in my hair as I'm trying to be cool
and swoop my hair into a ponytail in one fluid motion.

  • going with Carter to a Mechanical Engineering Senior Showcase and asking questions about cool inventions they've made. not awkward huh? well it gets pretty awkward when the genius senior who invented his own rocket fuel asks you if you're in Mech Eng and you just stand there next to Carter and say "uhh nope. actually I'm Art Education." and then you feel like you need to back yourself up so you just keep rambling stuff like, "I'm just really into this cool inventions and smart stuff! It's like Myth Busters in real life! haaha ..ha....ok..um.yeah...."

Awesome:
  • rediscovering favorite songs (SUPERBASS)

  • I totally aced my Religion final, YEAH BABY!

  • I have the best roomates in the world.ever.love.them.

  • this wristband some volunteer threw in my face today. it says, "Unlplug and be a bud!"

  • Carter thought bud was a potato (its actually spud) so that made me laugh :)

puppies, roses and festivals

FHE at Brother Seamon's home. Cute puppies!

my lovely twin came on tuesday and we spent the day together laughing, talking and getting so excited for her life at BYU!

Shelby and I rant the Bungee Run
about 10 times before we collapsed.
It was so great!

Notice how I'm laughing while Carter's face shows that he is on a mission
to beat me. I am just NOT competitive at all!

Carter surprised me with a spontaneous date on
the Temple grounds at sunset. I sure love him <3
