California Missions
Trip
April 2nd through April 7th 2012
Sunday – We drove from
SLC to Las Vegas after General Conference!
Monday – We made the long Drive from
Las Vegas to San Diego. We made a Visit to the Mormon
Battalion Visitors Center and it was fun to find ancestors who share our name!
We walked down the street to Fiesta de Reyes,
an outside Mexican restaurant complete with shops surrounding the tables.
Carter and I walked around and when I saw the flamenco dancers I felt like I was
back in Mexico City!! I impressed everyone and ordered in spanish haha I can
read it so well and my accent is great!
Tuesday – San
Diego. Visit Mission San Diego de Alcala
and museums in Balboa Park.
Today was the
craziest most busy day! We went to the Mission San Diego de Alcala and a
children’s science museum.
After lunch at the famous Coronado island we went to Balboa Park right on the beach and
had a blast there! We went on this sky climb ropes course and rock climbing, then
laser tag and a laser maze just like in Mission Impossible! It was so fun to
dodge the lasers and crawl through it like a spy.
Wednesday – Travel
north to Ventura, driving by Mission San Luis Rey and
visiting San Juan Capistrano. We went
and saw the movie Mirror Mirror and it was actually pretty funny, well written
with clever jokes.
Thursday – Travel
north to Paso Robles, visiting missions La Purisima and San Luis Obispo along
the way. Our tour guide for La Purisima
let us go into all the roped off areas and even let us ring the bells that haven’t
been used in ages!
Friday – Travel north
to San Francisco stopping at missions San Carlos Borromco and San Juan Bautista
along the way. We went to Pier 39 and
ate at Bubba Gumps right on the water front! We saw Alcatraz in the distance
and watched the sun set by the Californian Seals. It was wonderful!
Saturday – Return
home after visiting mission San Francisco de Asis and the final mission in Sonoma
. The drive home was fun cause we were all so hyper to get out of the car! Haha
it was an amazing trip and I’m so lucky to be able to come along and learn so
much about the California Missions!
