art piece in the making

Today I had an idea that just might be an art project someday. I figured I should record my thoughts on it here and let it mull around until I actually bring it to life someday...........................

Inhale and Exhale

What does Inhale" bring to mind/feel like:
negative sense:
scared
gasping/dying
hyperventilating
stress
gasp before tears

#photo:

positive sense:
anticipation
excitement
quick
about to explode
moment before action

Yulia Saparniyazova for JMB Extended:

What does "Exhale" bring to mind/feel like:
 in a negative sense:
breath leaving body
exiting
giving up
finished
the end
--(not exactly negative)
letting go
moving away
alone

Magdalena Frackowiak by Ben Hassett for Vogue Germany:

positive sense:
calming
controlled
letting go of tense

a look through my sketchbooks

When you open my sketchbook the first thing you see is Vincent Cat Gogh haahaha I love this little guy.

I love doing Master copies of works that I love. When you're in a funk it's always a good exercise to copy an art piece that you like. It teaches you about how that artist created their piece in the first place, how they made their strokes, how they decided on composition, and just how that piece of art came to life.

Filling up this sketchbook and at least one more is my goal for 2016 and so far I'm doing greaaaat!

TGIF

Thank goodness it's February
--oh wait--

Exactly ten February's ago my family decided to take on the challenge of "No Electronics" for an entire month. So we gave up our television, turned off our Gameboys (remember those?) and resorted to candle light evenings while we churned butter and quilted.

(gotcha didn't I)

Ok so we don't shut off our electricity for an entire month, but we DO refrain from television, movies, Youtube, Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, and any social media really..

We are allowed to use our computers to draw, create books, and blog. but that's it.

This month is always an interesting month. We read and play outside more than other months, and we also go through with drawls on Friday nights when instead of watching a movie together we gather for a riveting game of chess...

My lovely Mother wrote a post about this month HERE if you would like to read it.

So here's to our Tenth Anniversary of our crazy family keeping this awesome/awful tradition alive.

so TGIF

Disney Princess fever

I've been really interested in Disney Princesses lately and it's shown in my art...

Here's a close-up of Ariel. She's my favorite, hands down.
